Mathematics at Oakington Manor is highly successful. We see mathematics as very important in everyday life. We believe that every child has an entitlement to achieve their full potential in both the written and mental aspects of all Mathematics. Our curriculum anchors the depth and breadth of key objectives and provides realistic and relevant experiences that allow pupils to put into practice their knowledge and skills.

We ensure that all pupils:

  • become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics

  • reason mathematically by following a line of enquiry

  • can solve problems by applying their mathematics toavarietyof problemswith increasing sophistication

By the end of KS2, a very high proportion of our pupils meet and exceed national expectations.

Our pupils enjoy mathematics and are numerate, creative, independent, inquisitive, enquiring and confident. We provide adequate resources and a stimulating environment where all pupils are able to develop their mathematical skills to their full potential. In securing pupils’ enjoyment and achievement in mathematics, we endeavour at all times to set work that is challenging, motivating and encourages our pupils to reason, and to talk about what they have been learning.

Our parents and governors speak positively about mathematics.
