Welcome to Our Trustees/Governor's Page

Oakington Manor and Furness Primary have a federated governing body. There are some 20 governors consisting of parents, staff, local authority representatives, partnership and co-opted governors.  The governing body is responsible for the strategic management of the school and helps make decisions about a wide range of issues.

Their core responsibilities involve:

  • Ensuring accountability
  • Acting as a ‘critical friend’ to the Head Teacher
  • Monitoring and evaluating the school’s progress
  • Budgetary allocation and control
  • Planning for the long term future of the school
  • Setting the school’s aims and values
  • Appointing senior members of staff including the Head Teacher

The governing body structure can be seen below. Individual governors also take responsibility for different areas of school such as special needs, target setting etc. The committees meet separately (once every half term)  to discuss relevant issues in more detail. Minutes from the sub committees are then fed back at a full governing body meeting (once a term).

Please check the school newsletters or this page for the latest information about governors meetings and vacancies.
